Volkswagen rolls out its first compact sedan Ameo
Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd on Wednesday rolled out the Ameo compact sedan from its Chakan factory in Pune. The company had showcased the model first at the Auto Expo in Greater Noida in February. Volkswagen said it will increase Ameo production to build inventory before introducing the model in the market.
The Ameo, built on the same platform as Polo and Vento, will compete with Maruti Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze. The company has been accepting bookings for the model since 12 May and likely to announce prices next month.
Volkswagen has invested approximately Rs.720 crore in the development of the Ameo.
“Pre-launch bookings for the Ameo have been open at all Volkswagen showrooms in India for the last two weeks and the interest has been immense,” the company said in a statement.
“Due to the expected high demand for the Ameo, we have recently added a third shift to support the extra production volumes at our plant. We are committed to ensuring that our customers get their Ameo as soon as possible,” said Andreas Lauermann, president and managing director, Volkswagen India.
Volkswagen’s Pune plant currently manufactures the Polo, Vento and the Skoda Rapid. The company has invested close to Rs.5,720 crore since it started operations in India in 2007.

Although no official dates of Volkswagen Ameo has been announced by the company, but it’s debuted on 2 Feb in New Delhi and also will showcased in 3 Feb Auto Expo 2016. Launch date or we can say revealing date is expected in mid of 2016.
