Probably there are advertisers who share Ads which might be false or have no concern with the tech society. But to ban it will affect many publishers around the globe. There are around 2 million publishers around the globe.
Now the question who wants to ban them?
The Government of Indonesia has called on all over the top (OTT) companies to collaborate to cease the spread of false news in cyberspace, otherwise, they will be prohibited from generating revenues from online advertisements in the country.
Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara specifically mentioned AdSense, an advertising placement service by tech giant Google that allows advertisers to place text ads on the millions of websites that are part of Google’s network.
“We will make business approaches to those OTT companies by calculating how much revenue they get per day from online ads and how much will they lose if they are prohibited to operate AdSense,” Rudiantara told reporters on Monday.
“If we need to block AdSense, why not? But the truth is, it’s not our main objective. The important thing is to educate the public.”
Previously in July 2016, Google said it was working on a policy change to prevent websites that misrepresented content from using its AdSense advertising network, while Facebook updated its advertising policies to spell out that its ban on deceptive and misleading content applied to fake news, according to Reuters.
But the concern is why it is thinking to ban Adsense, gosh they need to understand that the Adwords need to be used cautiously. What going to publish it is not in the hand of publisher and I don’t think it will be in the direct hand of Google.
But Google may restrict advertiser will publish. We have also seen the Ad like “Sexy Video Downloads” which is completely irrelevant to the general audience of any publisher website.
