‘Gully Boy’, which is India’s official entry for the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
Priyanka will host a screening of the film along with director Zoya Akhtar at a theatre in Los Angeles on October 14.
Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt‘s Gully Boy not only earned great reviews but also took the box office by storm. Revolving around a young guy from the Mumbai slums whose exasperation finds expression in rebellious raps, the film gave away strong messages about social inequality and an unfair distribution of privileges.
Loosely based on the lives of street rappers Naezy and Divine, Gully Boy also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi, Kalki Koechlin, Vijay Raaz and Vijay Varma in pivotal roles. The film is also India’s official entry for the Oscars 2020. It was contending with over 20 films from Hindi as well as regional industries, including Andhadhun, Article 15 and Sonchiriya.
