#Skoda’s Kodiaq Is First Ever Seven Seater SUV

The Kodiaq is Skoda’s first ever SUV that offers seven seats. It is underpinned by the MQB platform which it shares with the Volkswagen Tiguan and Passat sedan. The Kodiaq stand alongside the Superb sedan as an alternate body style.

It was showcased as the Vision S concept at Geneva last year and was unveiled in production guise at a function the Czech Republic in late 2016. The name Kodiaq is inspired from a species of Alaskan brown bear as well as town bearing the same name.

Skoda has launched the Kodiaq at Rs 34.49 lakh . Powering it will be a 2.0-litre TDI engine that produces 150PS of power and 340Nm of torque. Mated to the engine will be a seven-speed DSG transmission and power will be sent to the road via an all-wheel drive system.

The Kodiaq gets the family face of the moustache grille and rectangular headlamps. The vertically slatted grille dominates the fascia and a three-part air dam lending it the required aggression. The swept back headlamps are projector units.

The Kodiaq is a full-size SUV and it shows in its 4.7 metre long profile. It gets a long hood, a prominent shoulder line, squared wheel arches and a sloping roof. The tail should look sleek with the wrap around tail lamps, a raked windshield and a hemline on the tail-gate.

The cabin of the Kodiaq is a mix of the latest generation Octavia and the Superb sedans. There are many common and familiar bits which is actually a good thing as both cars have clean cut designs and high quality materials.

It will get the latest generation infotainment system from the VW group and the buttons on the console may be touch-sensitive.

Dual-zone climate control with separate blowers for the rear seats are expected to standard along with auto-dimming interior mirror, electric folding wing mirrors, headlamp wash function et al. The middle row is adjustable to free some more space for the third row passengers.

Under the hood, you get the 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to a DSG automatic gearbox and AWD system. The 2.0-litre turbo-diesel produces 150bhp of power at 3500rpm and 340Nm of torque at 1750rpm. In the Indian market it is only being offered in one fully loaded top-of-the-line Style variant.

The Kodiaq is a full-sized seven seater SUV and at 4.7metres length, it is the ideal competitor for Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Santa Fe and the Mitsubishi Pajero.


As for features, the Skoda As for features, the Skoda Kodiaq gets premium leather upholstery, three-zone climate control, leather seats, touchscreen infotainment system with 12 speakers, multiple 12V charging sockets, panoramic sunroof and a plethora of storage spaces across all three rows.

The SUV also gets electric tail gate, ambient lighting in the cabin, hands free parking and electric front seats.


The front seats are power adjustable with memory function reserved for the top spec car. The in-car infotainment system gets a touch-screen TFT display and comes with MirrorLink, Apple Car Play and Android Auto for the seamless integration of your smartphone. The top spec car gets a 12-speaker audio system from Canton.
