Worth the wait? After a 10-hour delay, a Chinese woman discovered she had the plane to herself on her flight from Wuhan to Guangzhou.
Like many Chinese, the woman, who identified herself only with the surname Zhang, was travelling home during the 40-day “Spring Festival” travel rush, or “Chun Yun.” Grueling delays winnowed down the passengers until Zhang was the only one left.
According to the South China Morning Post, Zhang’s solo flight was not as rare as one would expect because most travelers are heading the other direction. During the holiday rush, additional planes take workers from Guangzhou home, but there is little demand for return flights to Wuhan.
Her isolation stands in marked contrast to other photos we’ve seen in the last few days of holiday travelers in China, where train stations have been flooded with passengers.
