The Winner Of Sony Entertainment Television’s Show Indian Idol 9

An established name in Telugu and Kannada films, Hyderabad-based singer LV Revanth has bagged the title of singing reality series, Indian Idol 9 after leaving behind Khuda Baksh (first runner-up) and PVNS Rohit (second runner-up) in the competition.

His singing credits include albums like Baahubali: The Beginning and Vatapatra Sai. “Right now I am on cloud nine. I am very happy for winning the show. I would say that my life has just begun right now. It’s not easy to win that title being a south Indian singer. I saw this show as a big opportunity. The four-month journey in this show has completely changed my life,”

Revanth was handed over the trophy by former India’s cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar and Sonu Nigam. Judges Anu Malik and Farah Khan  were also present on the finale night. Besides the title, Revanth won prize money of Rs 25 lakh, Mahindra KUV100 and a music contract with Sony Music.

Revanth’s first film song happened in 2008, Jalak Diklaja for Telugu movie Maha Yagnam. He has sung around 200 songs for Telugu and Kannada films, and has won several awards for his tracks in films like Baahubali: The Beginning, Badrinath and Rajanna. Revanth is the second Telugu singer to win Indian Idol, after Sreeram Chandra, who won the fifth season.

Revanth dedicated his win to his mother and family, he said, “I cannot ask for anything better than this. Winning the title of Indian Idol is the best thing that happened to me. The journey right from day 1 on sets till today has been filled with joy, anxiety, fun, nervousness, friendship and much more. I am thankful to the judges for guiding me throughout the season so that I could perform better each time. I would want to thank Sony Entertainment Television for giving me the platform, where the nation could see and hear my talent. Earlier, I was only known in south, but now because of Indian Idol the entire nation knows me.”

Born in Vizag, Revanth lost his father before his birth and was raised by his mother. He shared his story on the show and revealed how he pursued his dream by taking up a job at PCO booths and catering companies. All this helped him fund his education in music.

His performance has also brought him recognition among Bollywood stars. Anushka Sharma and Sonakshi Sinha consider him a star and are in awe of his singing. After making a mark in the South film industry, he now wants to earn fame in Bollywood as playback singer. Though he cannot speak Hindi, he didn’t let this become a hindrance in his performances.

Revanth’s dressing sense and style makes him look no less than a South Indian star. His gelled hair tied up in a pony tail, leather jacket and funky shoes are a few things that are always intact.
Some of the songs sung by Revanth on the show were Malhari, Aadat Se Majboor, Masakali, Sultan and Jeena Jeena.
Revanth now eyes Bollywood and would like to sing for his favourite actor Akshay Kumar, “I would like to sing for everyone, but Akshay Kumar is my most favourite and I would love to playback for him someday,” said Revanth.
