Bollywood’s leading lady Anushka Sharma and Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli surprised fans on Monday, 11 December 2017 by announcing the news that they have finally tied the knot.
The much-sought-after couple got married in a hush-hush ceremony in Tuscany, Italy. Be it their beautiful ensembles by celebrity designer Sabyasachi or every ritual, their wedding was the kind of stuff dreams are made of.
The wedding ceremonies took place at a countryside resort called Borgo Finocchieto, one of the most expensive holiday properties in the world located in a small village called Bibbiano.
For the D-day, Anushka wore a pale pink lehenga with Renaissance embroidery in vintage English colours embellished with silver-gold metal thread, pearls and beads. The bridal jewellery, handcrafted with syndicate uncut diamonds, pale pink spinel and baroque Japanese cultured pearls, was by the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry collection.
The groom looked smart in an ivory raw silk sherwani hand-embroidered in a vintage Benarasi pattern, with an old rose silk kota safa. The couple, who has been together for four years, is said to have chosen a luxury heritage resort Borgo Finocchieto, a little over 100 km away from here, for their nuptials. They appointed boutique wedding planning and production experts Shaadi Squad to ensure their celebrations were special and classy.
A blissful wedding week has come to an end for Anushka Sharma, her husband Virat Kohli and their families. With the couple reportedly spending their honeymoon in Rome, their family and close friends, who witnessed the hush-hush nuptials in the Tuscany villa packed their bags and headed back to Mumbai on Wednesday.
The couple has now chosen Rome as the perfect destination for their honeymoon. The couple will enjoy a week-long holiday by themselves in the Italian capital. With its rich cultural history and its association with some of the greatest love stories, the place seems apt for ‘Virushka’.
But it’s not like Virat and Anushka don’t mean to celebrate their wedlock in a grand fashion. Two receptions are due, one in Delhi for their relatives on December 21 and the other one in Mumbai for their Bollywood and cricketer friends on December 26.
